He aims to “ring that damn bell,” signifying victory over cancer, a tradition in many hospitals. The Baseball Hall of Fame and Boggs’ official Twitter handle sent well wishes and support as he begins his battle against prostate cancer. Boggs, known for his meticulous approach to improvement, was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2005 after a successful career with the Red Sox and Yankees, winning multiple batting titles and Gold Gloves. Throughout his 19-year career, he maintained a .328 batting average and was a 12-time All-Star. Boggs’ positive attitude and determination are sure to serve him well as he faces this new challenge.
