Georgia pastor seeks support for school shooter and his family through prayers

Pastor Frank Bernat of Bethlehem First United Methodist Church in Georgia is asking for prayers for the family of Colt Gray, the 14-year-old suspect in a school shooting that left four people dead. His father, Colin Gray, also faces charges in connection with the incident. Bernat believes that praying for the Gray family, despite the difficult circumstances, is important. He sees the shooting as a call to embrace faith and believes that God can bring good out of tragedy.

During a Sunday evening service, Bernat led the congregation in prayer for the victims of the shooting and their families, as well as for the community as a whole. The church also provided dinner and counseling services for students affected by the tragedy, like 15-year-old Elijah Rivera, who was close to the suspect during the shooting.

Rivera shared that the experience has strengthened his faith and made him more connected to his Christian beliefs. He emphasized the importance of leaning on God in times of crisis and finding peace and forgiveness in the face of violence and tragedy. The church community came together to support each other and offer comfort and guidance during this difficult time.
