Four people who were tragically killed in a plane crash in Vermont have been identified as Delilah Van Ness, 15, and her mother Susan Van Ness, 51, both from Middletown, Conn.; Paul Pelletier, 55, of Columbia, Conn.; and Frank Rodriquez, 88, of Lebanon, Conn. The small four-seat, single-engine plane crashed into a wooded area in Ferrisburgh, Vt. Authorities are investigating the cause of the crash.
Delilah Van Ness was a sophomore at Middletown High School, while Susan Van Ness was her mother. Pelletier was an aerospace and manufacturing teacher at the high school. The superintendent of Middletown Public Schools expressed deep sorrow over the loss of these individuals, and the high school was closed in light of the tragedy.
The group had flown from Windham Airport in Connecticut to Basin Harbor Airport in Vermont for brunch before the crash. Although there were no reports of the plane being in distress, it did not return to Connecticut as scheduled. Authorities used cellphone location data to locate the plane’s wreckage in a wooded area near the Basin Harbor Airport.
The investigation into the cause of the crash falls under the jurisdiction of the NTSB and FAA. The loss of these individuals has deeply impacted their community, and the tragedy has left a void in the hearts of those who knew them.
