Jayson Tatum publishes new children’s book and playfully teases Grant Williams

Boston Celtics star Jayson Tatum is having a summer to remember, having won his first NBA title, his second Olympic gold medal, and even gracing the cover of NBA 2K25. Now, Tatum can add author to his list of achievements with the release of his new children’s picture book, “Baby Dunks-a-Lot.” Inspired by his own relationship with his son, the book tells the story of a baby who discovers his basketball dunking talent and goes on to have a successful NBA career, including overcoming nap time obstacles.

Tatum emphasized the importance of representation in the book, ensuring Black and brown children could see themselves reflected in its pages. The book also features illustrations of Tatum, his son, and cameo appearances from NBA stars like LeBron James and Steph Curry.

In a playful nod to his former Celtics teammate Grant Williams, Tatum included a look-alike character getting blocked by “Baby Dunks-a-Lot.” Williams, known for his antics like dressing up as Batman after games, clearly left an impression on Tatum. Despite the friendly jab, Tatum praised Williams as a “great teammate.”

During an interview, Tatum expressed his excitement about sharing a piece of his routine and story with the world through the book. With his myriad accomplishments on and off the court, Tatum continues to solidify his status as a multi-talented star both in the NBA and now in the world of children’s literature.
