Plymouth man accused of using artificial intelligence to stalk and harass woman

James Florence Jr., a 36-year-old man from Plymouth, was arrested for cyberstalking and harassing a Massachusetts woman for over seven years. The federal prosecutors revealed that Florence allegedly posted edited photos of the victim online, including photos in her underwear. He is charged with one count of cyberstalking and faces severe penalties if convicted.

Florence allegedly created multiple social media accounts to harass the victim and posted her personal information online, encouraging others to contact her. The victim received distressing messages from unknown senders discussing the posts made by Florence. Prosecutors stated that Florence used advanced technology to manipulate, torment, and publicly humiliate the victim for years.

Acting U.S. Attorney for the District of Massachusetts, Joshua Levy, condemned Florence’s actions, calling them a chilling example of the dangers of online harassment and cyberstalking. Cyberstalking can lead to up to five years in prison, three years of supervised release, and a substantial fine.

Florence’s initial hearing is scheduled for September 16, where he will likely face multiple charges related to cyberstalking. The case sheds light on the serious consequences of online harassment and highlights the need for stricter measures to combat cybercrimes. Authorities are taking this case seriously and are determined to hold Florence accountable for his alleged actions.
