Kevin Burke, a 40-year-old man with a lengthy criminal history, is currently behind bars without bail in Massachusetts after two incidents in which he attempted to flee from police. The most recent incident involved him endangering the life of an officer by dragging them with his car as he fled. Burke was found at a Red Roof Inn in Mansfield and tried to escape in a black BMW before being apprehended by police.
During the previous incident at a cemetery, Burke resisted arrest and drove away, nearly hitting bystanders in the process. Burke has a history of charges including assault and battery, reckless driving, drug trafficking, and resisting arrest. He is also wanted in Rhode Island for similar offenses.
Burke’s arraignment at Attleboro District Court saw him plead not guilty to charges related to attempting to escape arrest and drug trafficking. Three North Attleboro officers were injured during his most recent incident, but all are expected to recover.
Burke will appear for a dangerousness hearing at Attleboro District Court next Friday. It is clear that he poses a danger to the community based on his actions and continued criminal behavior. Authorities are working to ensure that he remains in custody and faces justice for his actions.
