Weapons seized as police break up party with over 50 people in Mattapan

Boston Police Department officials reported seizing three firearms at a party in Mattapan on Monday. Officers responded to a report of a party at 24 Rexford St., where they found over 50 people in the basement, with a bar fully stocked, multiple hookahs, and air conditioners operating without proper ventilation. The basement was padlocked from the outside, preventing the attendees from leaving, raising concerns about potential life-threatening conditions. Upon entering, police observed three discarded firearms, including a Ruger LC9, a Polymer 80, and a Sig Sauer P238. Additionally, officers found a large vape and three credit cards with different names. Two suspects were arrested: Fitzgerald Custodio-Pimentel of Jamaica Plain and Jorge Vargas-Jimenez of Mattapan. Custodio-Pimentel was charged with various offenses, including disorderly conduct and resisting arrest, while Vargas-Jimenez faced charges for receiving stolen property and other offenses. Both are scheduled to be arraigned in Dorchester District Court. The Boston Fire Department was called to the scene to address concerns about gas and open flames. This incident highlights the dangers of illegal gatherings and the importance of police intervention to ensure public safety. It serves as a reminder for residents to adhere to regulations and guidelines to prevent such incidents in the future.
