Israeli forces carry out raid on Al Jazeera office in Ramallah, West Bank

Qatari Al Jazeera TV’s bureau in Ramallah in the West Bank was stormed by Israeli forces who handed a military order to close it for 45 days. The Palestinian Journalists’ Syndicate condemned this move, calling it a violation of journalistic freedom. This incident follows the Israeli government’s decision to shut down Al Jazeera’s local operations in Jerusalem in May due to national security concerns.

Tensions in the Middle East are at a peak as the one-year anniversary of the Hamas attack on Israel and the subsequent Gaza war approaches. Palestinians reported that an Israeli strike killed at least 22 people, mostly women and children, in a school sheltering displaced people in southern Gaza City. The Israeli military claimed the target was a Hamas command center.

In Lebanon, an Israeli airstrike targeting Hezbollah commanders killed at least 37 people in a suburb of Beirut, including senior leader Ibrahim Aqil and another commander. Hezbollah, an Iran-backed group, confirmed the deaths and stated it was the deadliest strike in nearly a year of conflict with Israel.

These events highlight the ongoing violence in the region and the impact on civilian populations. The actions of Israeli forces against media outlets like Al Jazeera, along with the deadly strikes in Gaza and Lebanon, underscore the complex and volatile situation in the Middle East.
