Methuen Mayor Neil Perry passed away on Saturday after battling various health issues. The lifelong Methuen resident was 65 years old and had been fighting kidney disease. One of his notable achievements was securing the purchase of the Searles Estate, a historic property in Methuen. Upon his passing, At-Large Councilor D.J. Beauregard will serve as the acting mayor until a Special Election can be held within 60 days.
