Triston Casas, the Red Sox slugger, ended his 22-game slump without recording more than one hit in a game by hitting three home runs in a single game against the Twins on Sunday. This impressive performance led the Red Sox to an 8-1 victory in Game 1 of a doubleheader. Casas became the first Red Sox batter to hit three homers in a game since May 2022.
During his hitless streak, Casas struggled with a .154 batting average and had only one homer and three doubles. However, he came back strong in Game 1, hitting a 400-foot three-run homer in the first inning, followed by another three-run homer in the third inning and a solo blast in the fifth inning.
Manager Alex Cora was ejected from the game early on after a dispute over a pickoff attempt that resulted in an interference call against second baseman Vaughn Grissom. This was Cora’s third ejection of the season.
Despite the ejection, the Red Sox managed to secure a convincing win with Casas leading the charge with his impressive hitting display. The second game of the doubleheader was set to start later in the day, giving Casas and the Red Sox a chance to continue their winning streak.
