A 43-year-old man from Cohasset had a harrowing experience after getting trapped in an open pit at a construction site. The man was stuck in the pit filled with eight feet of ocean water for two hours before someone called 911. The incident occurred at the old Atlantica Restaurant on Border Street. Emergency responders arrived to find the man out of the pit, but he was injured and possibly hypothermic. He was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The pit, located in a dark kitchen area, was uncovered and unmarked. Federal Investigators from OSHA arrived at the site to further investigate the incident. The man works for the LLC that owns a small portion of the building where the incident took place. This incident highlights the dangers that can arise at construction sites and the importance of proper safety measures.
