Berkshire Botanical Garden in Stockbridge has announced several upcoming programs for the fall season. From Oct. 1-22, there will be a course on Ornamental Woody Plants focusing on residential landscape design. Participants will learn about different types of shrubs, trees, and evergreens that thrive in Zone 5. Another workshop on Oct. 5-6 will teach attendees how to create floral dyes using plants from the garden and make a “wander book” with their dyed threads. Additionally, a four-week course on Rendering will provide students with the skills to create realistic illustrations of objects or scenes using various tools. The garden is also offering a plant sale on Oct. 5th, featuring a variety of pollinator-friendly plants to support local ecosystems.
Meanwhile, the Wilbraham Garden Club will be hosting its first meeting of the year on Oct. 3 at St. Cecilia’s Parish Center. The speaker, Jacqueline Clark, will discuss how to prepare gardens for the winter season, including tips on cutting back plants, mulching, soil amending, and more. Attendees are encouraged to bring a prospective new member as there is no guest fee for this meeting.
The Wilbraham Friends of the Library will also be hosting a pollinator plant sale on Oct. 5 at the Wilbraham Public Library. This event will offer a variety of biennials, perennials, shrubs, and vines that support pollinators. Proceeds from the sale will benefit both the Wilbraham Public Library and Wistariahurst Museum in Holyoke.
