Last Friday night, the Middlesex League Freedom division showcased that size doesn’t always matter when it comes to high school football. Stoneham and Woburn, both smaller schools, pulled off impressive wins against larger schools in the Middlesex League Liberty division. Stoneham dominated Arlington with 500 rushing yards in a 49-21 victory, while Woburn defeated Burlington.

Despite only losing two games last week, the writer admits to being bitter about those losses. On a positive note, Bishop Fenwick’s coach, David Woods, secured his 200th win, becoming the 58th coach in state history to reach that milestone.

Looking ahead to this week’s games, the writer predicts Milford will triumph over Natick due to their solid nonleague schedule. Catholic Memorial is favored to win against Leominster, although it won’t be easy. Duxbury is expected to beat Franklin with their versatile playing style. King Philip is predicted to come out on top against Foxboro in a rematch of last year’s classic battle. Marshfield is expected to defeat Mansfield as they start to find their rhythm. Xaverian is favored against Springfield Central, and St. Sebastian’s is predicted to bounce back against Lawrence Academy.

In other matchups, St. John’s Prep is expected to roll over LaSalle, BB&N is favored to beat Milton Academy, and Walpole is predicted to defeat Wellesley.

The writer’s record for the season stands at 22-8 (.733).
