In a flurry of high school sports action, boys soccer teams across various leagues have been showcasing their skills. Silver Lake defeated Plymouth South 3-0, while Hingham blanked Hanover 6-0. In the Greater Boston League, Somerville triumphed over Everett with a score of 6-1, and Rising Tide secured a dominant 8-0 win over Carver in a nonleague game. In the Hockomock League, Mansfield defeated Milford 4-1 with Cooper Austin scoring two goals.
Girls soccer teams have also been shining on the field. Mansfield beat Milford 6-1, while Oliver Ames triumphed over Sharon with a score of 6-2. Scituate blanked Duxbury 2-0, and Hingham defeated Hanover 4-1. Braintree secured a 4-2 victory over Brockton in nonleague action, and Nashoba Tech beat Northeast Metro Tech 4-2 in the Commonwealth League.
In football action, Plymouth North emerged victorious over Pembroke with a score of 19-13, thanks in part to Jake Turchinetz who completed 9-of-13 passes for 162 yards. Lynn Tech defeated Saugus 3-0 in a nonleague matchup with a game-winning field goal from freshman Daniel LeBrum.
The field hockey scene saw Watertown hold off a strong comeback bid from Reading with a 3-2 win, marking their 84th straight victory. Apponequet defeated Fairhaven 6-1, while Somerset Berkley secured a 9-2 win over West Bridgewater in a nonleague matchup.
In volleyball, Marblehead defeated Danvers 3-1, with Greta Sachs leading the way with 12 kills, three aces, and five blocks. And finally, a pair of former Catholic Conference standouts, Corey Thomas and Billy Sitting, were selected for induction into the Stonehill Hall of Fame for their outstanding achievements in track and baseball, respectively.
