The Westfield Technical Academy Construction Technology Advisory Board recently met to review applications for off-campus construction projects for the upcoming school year. The main focus for the department is the next student build project, following the completion and sale of a house at 64 Mill St. earlier this year. Construction technology chair Matthew Gomes expressed the department’s enthusiasm for finding a new opportunity to build a house with the students.
During the meeting, department instructors discussed potential projects and began the selection process for the 2024-25 school year. The advisory board plays a crucial role in guiding and supporting the department in pursuing meaningful and educational construction projects for students.
The hands-on experience of working on real-life construction projects provides students with valuable skills that will benefit them in their future careers.
