DownDetector reported between 5,000 to 20,000 BofA users encountering an outage, affecting online, mobile, and ATM users. Some users reported all their BofA accounts showing zero balances, prompting them to humorously consider unconventional storage options for their money.

The outage came on the heels of a recent Verizon outage that impacted thousands of users across major U.S. cities. The series of technical glitches with major companies led some to quip about unexpected events happening this year, with others highlighting the importance of diverse financial storage options.

Despite the disruptions, Bank of America assured users that customer service representatives were working on the issue, attributing the problems to a “glitch.” The incident serves as a reminder of the importance of ensuring reliable access to financial accounts, particularly in an increasingly digital age.
