Dynamo secures victory over the Revolution with Erik Sviatchenko’s debut goal

The Houston Dynamo secured a 2-1 victory over the New England Revolution on Wednesday night, with Ezequiel Ponce and Erik Sviatchenko scoring for the home team. Ponce found the back of the net in the 50th minute with a long-range strike, while Sviatchenko scored his first career MLS goal in the 68th minute. New England’s Carles Gil managed to score from the penalty spot in the 54th minute.

The win helped Houston improve its record to 14-9-9, securing a spot in the postseason for the second consecutive year. With two regular-season matches remaining, the Dynamo have matched their points total from last season with 51 points. The team has been in good form, going undefeated in 15 of their last 18 MLS matches and scoring 32 goals over that span while only conceding 35 goals all season.

On the other hand, New England now has a record of 9-18-4 with three regular-season games left to play. The loss to Houston adds to a disappointing season for the Revolution.

Overall, the Dynamo’s victory was a significant step towards solidifying their playoff position and continuing their strong form in the final stretch of the regular season.
