Anti-Israel student groups are planning a “Week of Rage” on college campuses, coinciding with Jewish memorial events and the ongoing hostages being held by Hamas in Gaza. The protests, organized by Students for Justice in Palestine, have been deemed sickening by members of the Jewish community. The week of protests also falls during the holiest days of the Jewish year, including Yom Kippur.
The National Students for Justice in Palestine are planning the protests to mark what they describe as a year of genocide in Gaza, accusing Israel of committing horrific assaults on Palestinians. The ADL has denounced the rallying cry “From the river to the sea, Palestine will be free,” as an antisemitic slogan calling for the dismantling of the state of Israel.
Ahead of the planned protests, the ADL is urging colleges to create safety plans to protect Jewish students and prevent disruptions on campuses. University officials at Harvard have reminded students of rules for protests, emphasizing the importance of free expression within the limits of university policies.
At Boston University, an event featuring a former president of the Harvard Students for Justice in Palestine chapter, Wendy Pearlman, is scheduled to discuss the aftermath of recent attacks and ongoing violence in Israel and Palestine. The event will explore the role of academic disciplines in relation to the conflict.
