A man in western Massachusetts found a hidden gold statue worth $26,000 in a treasure hunt organized by video game designers Jason Rohrer and Tom Bailey. The treasure hunt, known as Project Skydrop, involved participants paying $20 to enter and receiving daily aerial photographs of the prize location. The location was initially spread over a large area, which decreased gradually each day until the winner found the statue in Wendell State Forest.
The unidentified winner, described as a meteorologist from Boston, used his expertise and various tools like weather forecasts, detailed maps, and cloud coverage to pinpoint the exact location of the statue.
