Charod “Pachino” Taylor, a member of the Cameron Street gang in Dorchester, has pleaded guilty to racketeering charges and conspiracy to distribute cocaine and crack cocaine in the region. The 35-year-old faces a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison, with sentencing scheduled for January 15. This comes as part of a larger federal case against the gang, with 22 members indicted in May 2023.
The Cameron Street gang has a history of violent crime in Boston, with members using firearms to protect their territory and drug proceeds. They are known for using symbols like the letter “C” and numerical insignia to identify themselves, as well as calling themselves the “Body Bag Boys.” The gang promotes a climate of fear and violence through social media and videos celebrating their criminal activities.
The U.S. Attorney’s office has described the gang as engaging in violent acts to expand their territory and enhance their reputation. They have targeted rivals from other streets, known as NOB, and have a history of murders and assaults to achieve their goals.
Taylor’s guilty plea is part of a larger effort to dismantle the Cameron Street gang and address the problem of violent street gangs in Boston. The sentencing of Kenny “KG” Romero earlier this year was a step towards holding gang members accountable for their criminal activities. The authorities are working to ensure that the community is safe from the threats posed by groups like the Cameron Street gang.
