Anne Hathaway has confirmed her return for the long-awaited third installment of the “Princess Diaries” film franchise. The 41-year-old actress shared a video on her Instagram page teasing her involvement in the project by counting to three between movie clips of herself and co-star Julie Andrews before delivering one of her character’s iconic lines.
The Disney sequel will be directed by “Crazy Rich Asians” screenwriter Adele Lim, who expressed her excitement in being a part of bringing the beloved franchise back to life. While Disney has not officially confirmed casting, Hathaway has been vocal about her interest in reprising her role as Mia Thermopolis.
Speaking to Andy Cohen on “Watch What Happens Live” in 2019, Hathaway revealed that there is a script for the third movie and that she, Julie Andrews, and the producer all want to make it happen. She also mentioned in an interview with V Magazine earlier this year that they are in a good place with the project.
