In the heart of Tajikistan, the 2024 World Junior Judo Championship continued with thrilling victories for Uzbekistan, Colombia, and South Korea. On the fourth day of the championship in Dushanbe, the event kicked off with heavyweights taking center stage. The Director General of the IJF Vlad Marinescu and Tajik Judo President Ismoil Mahmadzoir officially opened the event with a grand ceremony celebrating the birthday of Tajikistan’s President Emomali Rahmon.
Colombia made history with Brenda Olaya winning gold at -78kg, claiming her country’s first-ever Junior World Champion title. Uzbekistan’s Muhammadsodik Sodikov also clinched gold in the -100kg final with a well-executed Tomoe-Nage move. South Korea celebrated their first victory in the championship with Hyeonji Lee’s triumph in the +78kg final.
The excitement continued with Denis Batchaev securing gold in the +100kg final by capitalizing on a mistake from Azerbaijan’s Kanan Nasibov. The medals were presented by Tajik officials, including the Minister of Labour, Migration & Employment Gulnora Kenja Khasanzoda.
As the championships progress, the crowd eagerly anticipates the upcoming Mixed Team Event.
