A California man, Daniel Nguyen, has been arrested and charged with making violent threats against Massachusetts-based companies. Acting United States Attorney Joshua Levy’s office announced that Nguyen was charged with transmitting threats in interstate commerce. Between January and February 2024, Nguyen made threatening phone calls to multiple companies in Massachusetts, stating he would “shoot up” their offices with an AK-47. He also sent threatening emails to businesses in Nevada and California, making race-based threats and disturbing statements. Nguyen’s first appearance in federal court was in San Francisco, with plans to appear in Boston at a later date.
The charge of transmitting threats in interstate commerce carries a possible sentence of up to five years in prison, three years of supervised release, and a fine of up to $250,000. Levy’s office emphasized the seriousness of these threats and the potential harm they could have caused.
