Fitness icon Richard Simmons was laid to rest in his iconic workout outfit, a detail shared by his brother, Lenny Simmons, at a celebration of life event in New Orleans. Lenny revealed that Richard was dressed in a tank top and shorts to be “in his normal costume” to “help the angels and saints get into shape in heaven.” Richard passed away at age 76 on July 13, following a fall and complications from heart disease. His private funeral was held in Los Angeles on July 19, where he was buried at Pierce Brothers Westwood Village Memorial Park and Mortuary. Richard’s longtime housekeeper, Teresa Reveles Muro, is currently fighting to be co-trustee of his estate, as she claims that Lenny and his wife took advantage of her vulnerable state in the days following Richard’s death. Despite the legal battle, both Richard’s brother and Reveles Muro remember him for his genuine joy and love he brought to people’s lives. Reveles Muro expressed disbelief over Richard’s passing and said she wants to celebrate his happiness. Lenny also praised her loyalty and trustworthiness.
