Kendrick Bourne returns as top safeties are sidelined

The New England Patriots will be facing the Miami Dolphins without their two starting safeties, Jabrill Peppers and Kyle Dugger. Peppers was ruled out due to a shoulder injury, and Dugger was listed as inactive after not practicing all week with an ankle injury. In their absence, Marte Mapu, Jaylinn Hawkins, and Dell Pettus are expected to step in.

Wide receiver Kendrick Bourne, who is returning from the PUP list after tearing his ACL last year, will be playing alongside DeMario Douglas, rookie Ja’Lynn Polk, Tyquan Thornton, and Kayshon Boutte. The Patriots will also dress five wide receivers for the game.

Rookie undrafted free agent Jamree Kromah will not make his Patriots debut as he is a healthy scratch. Ochaun Mathis has been elevated from the practice squad to fill in. The Patriots will have just two tight ends in Hunter Henry and Austin Hooper, with Jaheim Bell as a healthy scratch.

Third-string quarterback Joe Milton III can only enter the game in case of injuries to Jacoby Brissett and Drake Maye. The Patriots will have nine offensive linemen dressed for the game.

On the Dolphins’ side, their inactives include cornerback Ethan Bonner, outside linebacker Mohamed Kamara, center Andrew Meyer, safety Jordan Poyer, quarterback Skylar Thompson, inside linebacker Channing Tindall, and running back Jeffery Wilson.
