In a strategic move to strengthen its position in the craft beer industry, Hendler Family Brewing Company, the parent company of Jack’s Abby, has acquired Night Shift Brewing, making it the largest craft beer producer in Massachusetts. The acquisition follows the recent purchase of Worcester’s Wormtown Brewery by Hendler Family Brewing.
After the acquisition, Hendler Family Brewing will have 300 employees, including the majority of Night Shift’s existing team. The core lineup of Night Shift beers, such as Whirlpool, Santilli, and Nite Light, will be maintained, along with the brand’s locations at Lovejoy Wharf and in Everett. The Boston beer gardens in Allston, Dewey Square, and on the Esplanade will also continue to operate under Hendler’s ownership.
Sam Hendler, co-founder and CEO of Hendler Family Brewing, emphasized that the expansion is not just about growth but also about creating a stronger foundation for their teams and brands to thrive. The company aims to provide stability and sustainable growth for both Night Shift and Wormtown, ensuring that Massachusetts’ craft beer industry remains local and independent for years to come.
Jack Hendler, co-owner and head brewer at Jack’s Abby, pledged to uphold Night Shift’s legacy of quality and innovation, ensuring that popular beers like Santilli and Be Hoppy will remain available to loyal customers. The consistency and commitment to excellence exhibited by both Hendler Family Brewing and Night Shift Brewing signal a promising future for craft beer enthusiasts in Massachusetts.
