He was a three-time All-Star and two-time ERA champion, achieving a career record of 229-172 with a 3.30 ERA. He excelled in Boston, finishing as a top-6 Cy Young vote-getter three times. Tiant remained connected to the Red Sox after retiring, often seen at JetBlue Park during spring training and in the club’s Legends Suite at Fenway Park.
Tiant was known for his charismatic personality and love for the game, staying active within the Red Sox community long after his playing days were over. He was seen at various Red Sox events, including the tribute to Dustin Pedroia and South End Little League ceremonies. Tiant was also involved in charity work, visiting cancer patients and sharing his World Series ring with fans.
