Bruins impress as Poitras leads team to OT victory against Kings

The Boston Bruins have had a strong start to the season, earning positive results in two of their first three games. Despite some defensive struggles, they managed to secure a gritty 2-1 victory over the Los Angeles Kings. Goalie Jeremy Swayman stood out with a 32-save performance, while the contributions from the third and fourth lines helped keep Boston competitive.

One standout player from the game was Matthew Poitras, who made an impressive season debut after recovering from a season-ending shoulder injury. Poitras added 10 lbs of muscle over the summer, which didn’t hinder his speed or quickness on the ice. Despite not registering a shot on goal, Poitras displayed strong puck possession skills and created scoring chances for his teammates.

The Bruins leaned on Swayman and their bottom-six forwards in a game where offense was hard to come by. While the top-six struggled, the energy from the third and fourth lines allowed Boston to stay in the game. Head coach Jim Montgomery praised the contributions of the bottom-six and Swayman, acknowledging their key roles in the team’s success.

Looking ahead, the Bruins are focused on finding a balance in their lineup and improving their overall performance. With a 2-1 record so far, there is optimism that the team can continue to grow and develop into a well-rounded unit. Montgomery emphasized the need for patience and continued growth as the Bruins work towards achieving a complete 60-minute effort on the ice.
