Fabio Wardley successfully defended his British heavyweight title with a first-round knockout victory over Frazer Clarke in a highly anticipated rematch. The fight, which took place on the Artur Beterbiev v Dmitry Bivol undercard in Riyadh, lasted only around two and a half minutes. Wardley caught Clarke with a powerful right hand that sent him to the canvas, ultimately leading to the referee stopping the fight.
Wardley, who now boasts an impressive record of 18 wins in 19 bouts, expressed his confidence in his ability to finish his opponents once he has them hurt. His victory over Clarke was a result of fixing issues from their previous encounter and executing a solid gameplan.
Chris Eubank Jr also had a successful night, securing a middleweight victory over Kamil Szeremeta via a seventh-round knockout. Following the fight, Eubank Jr was confronted by Conor Benn, setting the stage for a potential future showdown.
Meanwhile, in the first women’s world title fight to take place in Saudi Arabia, Australia’s Skye Nicolson emerged victorious via unanimous decision over Raven Chapman. Jai Opetaia defended his IBF cruiserweight title against Britain’s Jack Massey, while a light-heavyweight fight between Britons Ben Whittaker and Liam Cameron ended in a draw after both fighters fell out of the ring.
In the main event, Artur Beterbiev defeated Dmitry Bivol in a closely contested battle to unify the light-heavyweight world titles. The victory marked Beterbiev as the undisputed light-heavyweight champion for the first time since Roy Jones Jr achieved the feat in 1999.
