The town of Hanson is cracking down on a resident who has been projecting a “Trump 2024” logo onto a water tower owned by the town. Lisa Green, the Hanson town manager, has stated that this activity is not sanctioned or condoned by the town and violates the town’s Sign Regulations.
The resident responsible for the projection will be issued a cease and desist order and will be fined $100 per day until they stop. The town has taken measures to minimize the impact of the projection, including positioning a spotlight to dim the image.
While the town respects the free speech rights of its residents, it does not allow political signage on town property. The projection not only violates this rule but also has the potential to cost the town a significant amount of taxpayer dollars in attorney fees and overtime for employees.
The town is committed to ensuring that its properties are not used to promote political candidates and is taking action to stop this unauthorized display. Residents are still free to express their political views, but they must do so in a manner that does not give the impression that the town is endorsing any political candidate.
