Man turns himself in to police for auto theft, holdup, car chase


Miguel Alicea, a 50-year-old man from Springfield, was arrested in Northampton on Monday afternoon after turning himself in to a police officer. Alicea was wanted for stealing a car in Springfield and robbing a store in Southwick on Saturday. According to Southwick Detective Sgt. Thomas Krutka, Alicea approached the officer, stating that he was tired and cold and tired of running from police. Southwick Police charged Alicea with armed robbery, threatening to commit a crime (murder), and larceny from a building in connection to the incident at Scibelli’s Mobil on College Highway on October 12.

Alicea’s arrest comes after a weekend of police searching for him, with the pressure eventually leading to his surrender. Krutka stated that the tactics used by law enforcement were successful in apprehending Alicea. The accused is currently in custody and will likely face legal proceedings for his alleged crimes.
