A home under construction in Portsmouth, Rhode Island, caught fire Tuesday night, prompting several fire departments to respond to the scene. The three-story house was engulfed in flames, affecting two additional nearby homes. The fire was located at a new development called Sea Spray Drive, and although the two other homes were damaged, they remain habitable. Fire departments from Newport, Bristol, and Tiverton also responded to the scene, where officials were able to contain the fire to the building where it originated. Fortunately, there were no injuries reported due to the fire, and it took about an hour to extinguish the flames. However, companies remained at the scene all night to monitor hotspots. The incident is still under investigation to determine the cause of the fire. Residents in the area were shocked by the size of the fire, as it posed a risk to nearby structures. With quick and efficient action from the responding fire departments, further damage was limited. The community is grateful for the efforts of the firefighters in controlling the fire and preventing any casualties.
