Celtics release 3 additional tryout players as regular season approaches

The Boston Celtics have continued to make roster cuts as they prepare for their season opener next Tuesday against the Knicks. Guards Ron Harper Jr. and Jay Scrubb, along with forward Hason Ward, have been waived and are expected to play for the G League Maine Celtics. Each of them was on Exhibit 10 contracts, meaning they could earn a bonus if they spend 60 days in Maine.

The team has yet to make a decision regarding guard Lonnie Walker IV, but a move is expected by Saturday due to the nature of his non-guaranteed deal. Ward recently signed his Exhibit 10 contract with the Celtics, while Harper has been with the team since Summer League and drew praise for his play. Scrubb, who is coming off an ACL injury, will also have the opportunity to restart his career in the G League after playing in 24 NBA games for the Clippers and Magic.

All three players will have the chance to continue developing their game in the G League, as the Celtics finalize their roster ahead of the season opener. Boston fans can expect to see a competitive team take the court next week as the Celtics aim to make a strong start to the season.
