Danvers Police Arrests 15-Year-Old in Connection to Attack on Disabled Man
The Danvers Police Department recently arrested a 15-year-old boy in connection to an incident where a group of teens allegedly attacked a disabled man at Plains Park. The teen is facing charges including assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, assault and battery based on disability, and assault and battery on a person with an intellectual disability. The arrest follows a Select Board meeting where residents demanded action against unruly teens in downtown Danvers.
The victim, Chris Anderson, known as “Ducky,” pleaded with the board for more help, stating that he was scared and couldn’t sleep at night due to the attack. Residents at the meeting expressed concerns about the behavior of the teens, including weaving in and out of traffic, trespassing, and intimidating gestures. The incident involving Anderson was described as the last straw by Select Board member Maureen Bernard, who emphasized the need to take control of the situation.
The Danvers Police Department, in collaboration with the Essex County District Attorney’s Office, is continuing to investigate the incident. Due to the involvement of juveniles, limited information is available at this time. The arrest of the 15-year-old suspect is a result of community pressure and demands for action to address the issues caused by disruptive teens in the area. Residents hope that this arrest will lead to a safer environment for all community members in Danvers.
