Shane Lachance, a freshman forward for the Boston University men’s hockey team, had an impressive debut season with 13 goals and 14 assists. Coming from a family with a strong hockey background, including his legendary grandfather Jack Parker, Shane always had his eyes set on playing for BU. Despite other options, the Andover native was committed to following in his family’s footsteps.
Having excelled at the high school and academy level, Lachance made it official in 2020 by committing to BU. His performance on the ice quickly caught the attention of his coaches and teammates, earning him a spot on the first line and the power-play unit. His leadership qualities were evident early on, and he was named captain of the team alongside junior forward Ryan Greene, a rare honor for a sophomore in BU’s history.
As the squad gears up for a successful season with a 2-0 start and a ranking of third in the USCHO.com poll, Lachance remains focused on leading his team to another Frozen Four appearance. With a blend of experienced transfers and talented freshmen, BU is poised for success. Lachance’s dedication to his teammates and his on-ice performance have quickly solidified his role as a pivotal player and leader for the Terriers.
As BU prepares to open their Hockey East play against UConn, eyes are on Lachance to continue his impressive form and guide his team to victory. With his combination of skill, leadership, and family legacy, Shane Lachance is set to leave a lasting impact on Boston University’s hockey program.
