Hezbollah rockets target northern Israel, drone strikes Netanyahu’s home in Israel-Lebanon conflict

Israel’s north was put on high alert as a “large volley of rockets” was fired towards multiple areas, including the city of Haifa. The tension escalated when a drone hit Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s holiday home in Caesarea, triggering air raid sirens across the country, including Tel Aviv.

Luckily, Netanyahu was not in the vicinity at the time of the attack, and there were no casualties reported. However, at least 13 people were injured by the multiple rockets fired from Lebanon towards northern Israel. The Israeli military intercepted two other drones that were launched.

Iran-aligned Hezbollah has been engaged in conflict with Israel since last October, and this recent incident has further heightened tensions in the region. Al Jazeera has reported on the incident from Amman, Jordan, as the news outlet has been banned in Israel.

Israeli authorities are considering the drone attack on Netanyahu’s home as a possible “assassination attempt,” causing alarm within the security establishment. The fact that a drone was able to go undetected and strike the target has raised concerns about the country’s security measures.

The attack on Netanyahu’s house was reportedly carried out using a diversion of rockets from Lebanon as decoys. Sirens were activated in various cities across northern Israel in response to the attack, including in Haifa, a strategic port city with a significant population and the country’s naval headquarters.

The incident has left Israel on edge as the country evaluates its security protocols and potential threats from neighboring regions.
