Former Red Sox star Mookie Betts is on fire for the Dodgers, despite a tough Game 5 loss to the Mets in the NLCS. Betts struggled at the start of the postseason but has since turned things around, going 12-for-34 with four homers, three doubles, and 11 RBIs in the last eight games. He credits advice from Red Sox legend David Ortiz for helping him break out of his slump.
Betts and Ortiz have maintained a close relationship despite no longer being teammates, with Ortiz regularly checking in on Betts and offering words of encouragement. Betts has also been supported by former Red Sox player Kiké Hernández, who has also been performing well in the postseason for the Dodgers.
The Dodgers will have another chance to close out the Mets in Game 6 of the NLCS, scheduled for Sunday night at Dodger Stadium. Betts and Hernández will look to continue their strong performances to help lead the Dodgers to victory and secure a spot in the World Series. Despite the loss in Game 5, Betts’ recent hot streak has given Dodgers fans hope for a successful end to the NLCS and a shot at their first World Series title since 1988.
