The New England Patriots suffered a 32-16 loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars in London, with rookie quarterback Drake Maye getting the team out to a 10-0 lead before the rest of the team unraveled. The Patriots struggled with miscommunication on defense, allowing 22 unanswered points in the second quarter. Despite Maye’s efficient passing game, the team couldn’t sustain their early lead and eventually fell to their sixth consecutive loss.
The Jaguars capitalized on multiple opportunities, with receiver Brian Thomas Jr. exploiting the Patriots’ defense for two touchdowns in quick succession. Parker Washington added a 96-yard touchdown return, further widening the gap for the Patriots. While the defense managed to limit Jacksonville’s scoring in the second half, the Patriots struggled on offense, ultimately becoming one-dimensional due to a lack of production from the run game.
Coach Jerod Mayo emphasized the importance of starting fast, which the team achieved, but their inability to maintain momentum led to their downfall. Despite the loss, Maye and the passing game kept the Patriots competitive throughout the game. With penalties and sacks derailing late offensive drives, the Patriots were unable to close the gap in the final minutes.
The Patriots will need to regroup and address their consistency issues as they look to break their losing streak and bounce back in the next game.
