IDF initiates strikes on Hezbollah banking systems, orders evacuation process

Israel’s military has launched more strikes on Lebanon, specifically targeting banks and financial institutions that support Hezbollah. The IDF issued evacuation warnings for 24 areas, including 14 in the capital Beirut, with plans for more strikes in the coming days.

A senior Israeli intelligence official stated that the main target of the strikes was the Hezbollah-run banking system, al-Qard al-Hassan, which is also used by thousands of ordinary Lebanese. Al-Qard al-Hassan responded, calling Israel’s actions a sign of “bankruptcy” and reassuring customers that their funds were safe.

The escalation in tensions and frequent cross-border fire between Israel and Hezbollah led to all-out war last month. Israel launched a ground operation into Lebanon, while Hezbollah fired rockets into Israel. The conflict has resulted in civilian casualties, with over 1,700 people killed, including women and children, in recent weeks.

The United States is reportedly investigating leaked classified documents indicating Israel’s preparation for a military strike in response to Iran’s support of Hezbollah. Iran is a major financial backer of Hezbollah and also supports Hamas in Gaza.

The situation remains volatile, with Lebanon’s army unable to defend the country from Israeli invasion or impose its will on Hezbollah. The ongoing conflict threatens to escalate further, with potential repercussions for the entire region.
