US probes leak regarding Israel’s plans for attacking Iran

An investigation is currently taking place due to the leak of classified U.S. intelligence documents outlining Israel’s plans for a retaliatory strike on Iran. The leak of these documents is considered “very concerning” according to House Speaker Mike Johnson, who stated that serious allegations are being made and they are following the situation closely. The leaked documents, believed to have been prepared by the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency, detail U.S. interpretations of Israeli Air Force and Navy planning using satellite imagery from October 15-16. Israel has promised a strong response to Iran’s recent ballistic-missile attack.

In response to escalating tensions between Israel and Hezbollah, Israel has warned Lebanese civilians to evacuate certain areas ahead of potential attacks. Israeli Foreign Minister Israel Katz has taken legal action against French President Emmanuel Macron after Paris banned Israeli firms from participating in a military naval trade show. The Israeli military has engaged in targeted activity against Hezbollah infrastructures in southern Lebanon, with fighter jets attacking militant targets.

Meanwhile, the U.N. peace envoy for the Middle East has condemned the continued attacks on civilians in Gaza following Israeli airstrikes. The Israeli military denies the casualty numbers reported by the Gaza Health Ministry as “exaggerated.” An Israeli commander has refuted claims that the killing of Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar was a stroke of luck, stating that it was a result of skillful soldiering. The attack on Sinwar was a part of ongoing operations to eliminate militants and locate hostages in Rafah.
