An 8-year-old girl in Colorado fought off a man wearing a clown mask who broke into her home and attempted to kidnap her. The incident occurred in Sterling, with the suspect entering the girl’s bedroom, blindfolding her, and assaulting her. The girl was able to fight back, but was knocked unconscious before the suspect fled. She suffered injuries to her eye and head that required staples. The suspect, identified as Thomas Gallegos, was arrested and charged with first-degree burglary, attempted kidnapping, assault, and child abuse. The girl’s mother reported that Gallegos had helped install a washer and dryer in their home just days before the attack. Gallegos remained in jail without bond and was scheduled to appear in court. Police are asking anyone with information about the case to contact them.
