2024 Massachusetts Election Results for State House District 1st Bristol

The race for the 1st Bristol District seat, previously held by Rep. Jay Barrows for nearly two decades, is heating up as Kostas Loukos and Michael Chaisson face off in the upcoming election.

Kostas Loukos, a former Mansfield town moderator and current member of the Mansfield Industrial Development Commission, emerged victorious from a three-way Democratic primary in September. With experience as a gaming agent for the Massachusetts Gaming Commission and an internship with Barrows and other lawmakers, Loukos brings a unique perspective to the race.

Michael Chaisson, a Foxborough resident and owner of Chaiss Construction, won an uncontested Republican primary in September. Having previously run for the state Senate in 2022, Chaisson aims to bring his experience as a small business owner to address the rising costs affecting residents in the district. He has promised to bring a “new generation” of leadership to the State House if elected.

The 1st Bristol District, encompassing Foxborough and parts of Mansfield and Norton, has historically been a Republican stronghold. With both candidates offering different backgrounds and perspectives, the race is set to be an interesting and competitive one as they vie for the seat previously held by Barrows. Voters in the district will have an important decision to make in the upcoming election.
