Div. II State Championships: Wellesley Girls and Milton Boys Secure First Place


Wellesley girls swimming made a triumphant return to the top, claiming the title of MIAA Division II state champions at Boston University on Sunday. The team’s success was highlighted by Serena Loo, a standout freshman who brought home a first-place finish in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:07.29, breaking her seed time by over a second.

Loo also excelled in the 50-yard freestyle and the 200-yard IM, placing third in both events. In addition to her individual achievements, Loo was a key contributor in two relay events. She helped the Raiders secure a second-place finish in the 400-yard freestyle relay and a first-place finish in the 200-yard medley relay.

The team’s overall performance was impressive, with several other swimmers also achieving personal best times and contributing valuable points towards their championship victory. The Raiders showed great resilience and determination throughout the competition, ultimately emerging victorious in a close battle for the Division II state title.

Head coach John Jones expressed his pride in the team’s hard work and dedication, highlighting the efforts of both individual swimmers and the team as a whole.
