Brookline Man Indicted for Assault and Poisoning of Pregnant Woman
BROOKLINE, MA – Robert Kawada, 43, has been indicted by a Middlesex Grand Jury on multiple charges, including assault and battery with a dangerous weapon against a pregnant person, as well as poisoning and assault and battery on a household or family member. The indictment comes in response to allegations that Kawada intentionally sought to terminate his girlfriend’s pregnancy through harmful means.
According to the office of Middlesex District Attorney Marian Ryan, Kawada was in a dating relationship with the victim when he learned of her pregnancy. In a calculated move, he ordered the abortion-inducing medications Misoprostol and Mifepristone online, impersonating another woman to place the order. The use of these medications without medical supervision is illegal and poses significant health risks.
