Karoline Leavitt Named White House Press Secretary by Trump

President-elect Donald Trump has named Karoline Leavitt as his White House press secretary for his second term. Leavitt, a 27-year-old New Hampshire native, previously served as a spokesperson for Trump’s 2024 presidential campaign. Trump praised her as smart, tough, and an effective communicator. Leavitt interned at the White House during Trump’s first administration and worked as a writer and assistant press secretary. In 2022, she ran for Congress in New Hampshire and won the GOP primary but lost to the Democratic incumbent. Leavitt, the first Republican from Gen Z to win a House primary, previously worked for Rep. Elise Stefanik. She was an early hire for Trump’s 2024 campaign and is known for her television appearances. Leavitt is part of a new White House staffing team that includes Susie Wiles as chief of staff, Steven Cheung as communications director, and Sergio Gor as director of the Presidential Personnel Office. Trump expressed confidence in Leavitt’s ability to excel in her role as press secretary and help deliver the administration’s message to the American people.
