Thirteen-year-old Jude Khammoungkhoune survived a tragic boating accident off northern California that claimed the lives of his father and five other passengers. After their boat capsized, Jude found himself alone in the Pacific Ocean, drifting inside a cooler. Despite not being a proficient swimmer, Jude managed to survive for hours in the cold and dark before washing up on shore. He was eventually rescued and reunited with his family.
Jude’s father, Prasong, was unable to hold onto the cooler long enough, leading to his presumed death. Since the accident, Jude has been slowly adjusting to life without his father, taking on new responsibilities at home. A vigil is being held to honor Jude’s father, along with the other victims of the tragic accident.
A GoFundMe page has been set up to support Jude’s family in their time of need. The donations will help provide for Jude’s mother and siblings, who are still processing the loss of their loved ones. The family is also inviting individuals who have lost a loved one to participate in the ceremony to remember and honor those who were lost in the tragic incident.
