Elon Musk criticizes ‘sanctuary’ cities following ICE migrant arrests in Massachusetts – Boston 25 News

Billionaire Elon Musk recently criticized “sanctuary” cities for protecting child rapists, following the arrests of three undocumented migrants in Massachusetts charged with sex crimes against children. Musk called out politicians in these cities who shield such criminals and suggested they should be recalled. One of the arrested individuals, Alexandre Romao De Oliveira, was a convicted child rapist in Brazil who fled his home country to evade justice before being apprehended in Methuen, Massachusetts. Another accused of victimizing a child, Mynor Stiven De Paz-Munoz, was arrested in Great Barrington. He had been released on bail after an immigration detainer from ICE was ignored. A third individual, Billy Erney Buitrago-Bustos, was arrested in Pittsfield for similar heinous crimes. Both Buitrago-Bustos and De Paz-Munoz remain in federal custody. The arrests have reignited the debate over sanctuary cities like Boston, with Mayor Michelle Wu vowing not to cooperate with federal immigration enforcement. Musk’s comments have added fuel to the fire, as he questions why cities are providing protection to individuals accused of such serious crimes, sparking further discussion on immigration policies and public safety. The issue has also highlighted the challenges faced by federal immigration authorities, who are working to ensure individuals charged with such crimes are held accountable and do not pose a threat to communities.
