Former Soros Fund Management chief investment officer Scott Bessent has been nominated by Donald Trump to lead the Treasury Department. Rep. Lori Chavez-DeRemer was also tapped to head the Labor Department, alongside other nominations including Dr. Janette Nesheiwat as U.S. Surgeon General and Ross Vought as Office of Management and Budget director. Trump’s nominations aim to strengthen the U.S. economy and address key issues.
Bessent, a Yale alum, is expected to maintain the U.S. Dollar’s status as the “Reserve Currency of the World” and support Trump’s economic policies. Chavez-DeRemer, a former Oregon representative and mayor, will focus on creating opportunities for American workers and improving working conditions. Nesheiwat, a Fox News medical contributor, will bring a preventive medicine and public health perspective to the role.
Other nominations include Marty Makary as FDA commissioner and Dave Weldon as CDC director, aiming to improve trust and focus within these agencies. Vought’s re-nomination as OMB director and Scott Turner’s nomination to lead HUD aim to support Trump’s policy agenda. Overall, these nominations cover various aspects of government and are intended to advance Trump’s priorities and goals as he prepares to serve his second term as president.
