Former talk show host Wendy Williams’ guardian, Sabrina Morrissey, has filed a court document stating that Williams’ health is deteriorating due to her dementia battle. The document claims that Williams, 60, is permanently disabled and incapacitated from cognitive impairment. Morrissey is in a legal battle with Lifetime over the release of the documentary “Where Is Wendy Williams?” which was released in February.
Williams was diagnosed with primary aggressive aphasia and frontotemporal dementia in 2023, placing her under a court-ordered guardianship that oversees her health and finances. Morrissey’s legal team alleges that the defendants took advantage of Williams’ vulnerable state to create the documentary. They are requesting the court to redact details about Williams’ health and finances for privacy.
The defendants claim they had Williams’ consent to film the documentary before her dementia diagnosis and guardian appointment. Despite this, Morrissey and the defendants are preparing for a two to four-week trial to settle the case. Williams’ family shared with People that she is currently in a care facility and can only speak to them when she calls.
Before her health declined, Williams hosted “The Wendy Williams Show” from 2008 to 2022. In addition to her dementia, she has faced health challenges such as Graves’ disease, Lymphedema, and struggles with alcohol and cocaine addiction. The situation surrounding Williams’ health and the release of the documentary remains a complex legal matter that will be addressed in court.
