Massachusetts Weather: Thanksgiving Storm Could Bring Freezing Rain and Icy Conditions

Residents in Massachusetts woke up to cloudy skies on Thanksgiving as a storm system that brought heavy snow to California and wintry conditions to the Rocky Mountains was forecasted to bring rain to the Northeast. The National Weather Service issued a special weather statement warning of the possibility of freezing rain and icing in parts of Connecticut and Massachusetts. Higher elevations were expected to see snow accumulation, with up to 1 foot of snow likely in areas of northeastern Pennsylvania, eastern New York, Vermont, New Hampshire, and Maine. Temperatures were starting to rise in some parts of southern New England, though snowfall was expected in the Berkshires until Sunday. The passing storm was expected to bring about dry conditions for the end of the week, with cold temperatures in the high 30s and low 40s. Although no more rain or snow was expected on the weekend, some ocean-effect rain or snow showers were possible near the coast with temperatures in the 50s.
